About Quentin Geczy
Based in London, Quentin Geczy attended Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. He later attended medical school at the University of Sydney Medical School for two years. He is looking to finish his studies closer to home in Europe while also pursuing an entrepreneurial path in consulting and finance, focusing on healthcare.
While amid the medical school application process, Quentin remains engaged in health and education through research and tutoring. He leads a successful private education business, supporting students in STEM subjects and university admissions. He is also developing an online business selling educational courses and materials for UK high school exams (GCSEs, A-Levels), medical exams (BMAT, UCAT, GAMSAT, MCAT), and the SAT.
After graduating from high school in Australia, Quentin came to the United States in 2016 to pursue his passions in science and economics. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Cellular Development Biology (MCDB) and Economics at Yale University. Quentin studied macro and microeconomics, finance, and accounting. He also developed and manipulated large datasets using R and employed theoretical models to solve complex qualitative and quantitative problems analytically. Studying Economics sharpened his ability to think analytically about complex systems, developing a nuanced understanding of resource management, decision-making under uncertainty, and human behavior.
Quentin’s studies in MCDB involved an extension of his pre-med courses. His thesis was titled “Psychedelic Renaissance in Psychiatry,” where he discussed the mechanism of action of the 5-HT2A receptor and how its agonism with serotonergic psychedelics can increase neuroplasticity. These insights have driven recent revolutionary changes in the clinical treatment of mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, addiction, and PTSD.
Both disciplines – Economics and MCDB – provided Quentin with a multidisciplinary education uniquely suited to the evolving demands of modern medicine. They also gave him a solid foundation for evidence-based clinical reasoning, public health understanding, and the communication skills necessary to explain complex ideas to diverse audiences.
In addition to his academic prowess, Quentin excelled as an athlete at Yale. He was a Division I Varsity Athlete, Lightweight Crew Eastern Sprints Champion, and came in second at the USA U23 Lightweight Men’s Quad National Team Selection Regatta.
Quentin successfully balanced the rigors of elite athletics with a demanding academic schedule, which instilled in him discipline, teamwork, resilience, and leadership.
As a young boy, Quentin Geczy always wanted to become a doctor. At thirteen, he suffered a fractured femur in a cycling accident that required prolonged rehabilitation, where he had firsthand experience in the profound impact of orthopedic care. Over the following decade, he faced several additional health challenges, including a devastating cycling crash that resulted in a severe subdural hematoma, fractures to his cervical spine, and significant dental trauma. While the experience ended his athletic career, it reinforced Quentin’s amazement for the human body and the clinicians whose skill and compassion made his recovery possible.
After graduating from Yale, he attended the University of Sydney Medical School, a top 20 medical school worldwide. His clinical interests were Orthopedic Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and General Surgery, which stemmed from his academic exposure, research, and personal experiences as a patient and an athlete recovering from injuries.
